The Louisiana Dental Association (LDA) recently presented the New Dentist Award to Nicholas “Nick” Rauber, DDS. This accolade is given to philanthropic dental professionals who have been practicing for less than a decade. Dr. Nick Rauber earned this award for his nonprofit work with such programs as the LA Mission of Mercy and the Greater Baton Rouge Community Clinic.
The LDA esteems civic involvement and public service work, and it encourages such efforts in its promotion of the National Children’s Dental Health Month in February each year. During this month, the nonprofit program Give Kids a Smile (GKAS) provides a day of access to pro bono dental screenings, services, and education to children without access to regular dental care. In pursuit of its philanthropic mission, the Louisiana Dental Association also sponsors the LDA Foundation, which offers grant opportunities to people and foundations that provide clinical research, education, and access to care programs that better the state of oral health care in Louisiana.
